After further inspection of the vehicle, police made a devastating finding. The driver of the car hadn’t managed to escape when the vehicle went off the road. The remains of a person were still sitting in the driver’s seat.
It was clear that they had been stuck in the car at the bottom of the lake for years and it was only because of Max that they had been found.

“It was very shocking,” Max told The New York Times, disclosing that he had been wondering what could have happened to the driver when he saw the car emerge from the water with all its doors and windows shut and no sign of a forced exit. “We were surprised. We weren’t expecting anything like this,” he continued.
It’s not every day that a teenager helps police to uncover human remains and Max and his mom were shaken. “When we initially heard someone was in that vehicle, my heart just sank,” Nancy Werenka told the news outlet.
