Coincidences
According to Nancy, finding Janet Farris only occurred because of a “whole series of coincidences”. The story shows that chance happenings can have incredible results. If the day hadn’t been so clear and bright, if the guests hadn’t spotted a dark shape, if Max hadn’t recognized the shiny thing, and if the officer hadn’t been visiting Griffin Lake then it could have been decades before the car was discovered. Perhaps Janet Farris would have been left in her watery grave forever. Call it chance, call it fate, but everything aligned to ensure that a 30-year-old mystery was solved with the help of a 13-year-old boy.
Looking to the Future
We hope the Farris family has found closure by finally being able to hold a funeral for their beloved mother and grandmother and finding out what happened to her after all those years.
Max, on the other hand, might be looking forward to a future in the RCMP if that’s the career path he chooses. “The RCMP will probably be looking at this guy down the road for potential employment,” Corporal Thomas Blakney told CTV News. “Good detective work on his part.”
