Selective Memory
“I was on the ride home from school and my mom said ‘what do you want to do when you grow up.’ I said in reply ‘Maybe an author or something like that.’ She replied with ‘…(my name) you are smart and you have the whole world at your fingertips, and you want to be an author…you can be a scientist or a doctor but you want to waste your life being an author.’
A few weeks later she asked the same thing and I told her what she already said and she declined the whole thing but said she agreed with herself.”
