The girl’s story pulled at Olsson’s heartstrings, even more than she was pulling at the girl’s hair. Here was a girl at the age of 16 who was suffering from mental health problems and it reminded Olsson of her own journey with mental health.
“I understood how it felt to feel worthless—a child should never feel like that,” Olsson told BBC News. Without going into too much in detail about her own struggles, Olsson was able to relate to the girl and she felt a deep connection to her. And she wasn’t the only one.
