Jose walked into the barbershop, sat down, and Salva draped him with the hair-cutting cloak. He then asked if Jose wanted the window shutters open or closed. “Windows, open for now. So, I can see myself for the last time like this,” he told Salva.
Jose took a moment to appreciate this moment, say goodbye to his old self, and get ready for this big physical, emotional, and mental change. “Now we close them so that when we open them again, it’s as if something else has opened too in my life: like a symbol,” Jose said.
