Camila Cabello recently shared her concerns about the health of her hair after going blonde earlier this year, revealing how the dramatic color change affected her locks.
During a December 8 conversation with Dave Grutman at the Tribeca Festival in Miami, Cabello, 27, reflected on her decision to go platinum blonde. “I did love being blonde in the beginning. In the beginning,” she admitted, during the Art Basel Miami Beach Live Conversation event.
Although the “Havana” singer is now sporting her natural brunette hair, she recalled how quickly her blonde locks began to suffer. “But that s*** starts looking like rope real quick — like a horse is about to take a bite, like a salad. It starts drying,” she confessed.
Cabello, who had never bleached her naturally dark hair before, expressed regret about not being warned about the damage bleaching could cause. “There’s a three-shade maximum. You can go three shades lighter or darker, and that’s fine for your hair. Anything more than that, you can’t do for more than a few months. It fries it,” she explained. She added, “It’s going to take a long time to rebuild my beautiful, beautiful hair.”
The singer also shared how she initially had to hide her platinum hair to protect it, describing the experience as “painful.” When asked about her current hair, which she described as “looking great now,” Cabello said, “It’s a lot of tricks! But, it was fun.”
