In the natural hair community, it’s well-known that applying heat while using a deep conditioner or hair mask enhances product absorption. However, when salon visits aren’t an option, many Black women turn to makeshift methods. These include wrapping conditioner-soaked curls in multiple layers of plastic to retain moisture or using a hot towel around the hair before covering it with a shower cap.
