BeYoutiful to Host Gala to Support Women with Hair Loss

Facing a medical treatment can make staying positive a challenge. To help, Andi Palmar and her daughter Lauren Gerami founded Operation: BeYoutiful in 2014, an organization dedicated to supporting women dealing with hair loss due to medical conditions.

“We provide wigs to anyone experiencing medically related hair loss,” Palmar explained. “This includes teenagers and women of all ages. Beyond the wigs, we offer monthly meetups, spa treatments, house cleaning, meals, counseling, yoga classes, and essential oils. We aim to create a full well-being package for them as they navigate their treatments and personal journeys.”

On October 12, Operation: BeYoutiful will host a Gatsby-themed gala fundraiser at the Richland Firehall. The event will feature several speakers, including women whose lives have been positively impacted by the organization’s efforts.

“We’re hoping to raise enough funds to cover our annual budget,” said Gerami. “Every dollar goes directly to services for women—whether it’s for purchasing wigs or providing additional support to help them regain a sense of normalcy during their treatments.”

While Operation: BeYoutiful mainly serves women in Cambria and Somerset counties, Palmar emphasized that the program is open to anyone willing to travel to the area. She added that there will be several more fundraising events throughout the year.

“Providing wigs is just the beginning,” Palmar said. “The additional services we offer address the broader needs and desires of the women, helping them through all aspects of their journey.”
