Ice Spice was “In Ha Mood” to switch things up at the Summer Jam festival this weekend. The 23-year-old Bronx rapper showcased a new look with butt-length curls, departing from her signature short curly hairstyle.
She made her appearance at Hot 97’s Summer Jam festival on Sunday, held at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York. During her 30-minute set, Ice Spice was joined by special guests such as Flo Milli and Kali. Her ensemble for the event included a plaid mini skirt, a white cropped Supreme T-shirt, a studded belt, fishnets, chunky loafers, and a massive diamond necklace, reflecting a fresh Y2K style.
This new hairstyle marks a temporary change from her usual look. Earlier in the year, she performed at the Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn with a silk press instead of her typical curls.
Ice Spice has had a standout year since releasing her 2022 single “Munch.” In 2023, she released her debut EP *Like..?*, collaborated with major artists like Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, and embarked on her first fashion campaign with Beyoncé’s Ivy Park and Adidas.
In a February interview with PEOPLE, Ice expressed her excitement about the Ivy Park collaboration. “I was in disbelief when I got the call. It was all sinking in on the flight over [to the photo shoot]. I’m still so excited to be a part of this!”
The Ivy Park collection, named Park Trail, draws inspiration from “the resilience of the outdoors, the spirit of the streets, and the possibilities of the future.” Ice Spice felt a personal connection to these themes, stating, “Being resilient has always been important to me in every situation because nothing is permanent and we should reflect that.” She emphasized the importance of keeping her style and music “fun and as raw and organic as possible.”
Following her Ivy Park campaign, Ice Spice has continued to promote her music through various festival performances. She performed at Summer Jam this past weekend and is scheduled to appear at New York’s Governors Ball next weekend.
At Summer Jam, she delivered some of her biggest hits, including her verse from the No. 1 single “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2.” Flo Milli, who joined her on stage, shared her excitement about the collaboration. “It wasn’t a last-minute thing, but kinda. We just decided that she was gonna bring me out, so I was really happy to hear that. I’m so happy that the girls got to come together,” Flo Milli told PEOPLE backstage.
Despite not yet collaborating on a track, Flo Milli hinted at the possibility of future projects with Ice Spice. “It’s possible,” she said. “Like damn, she in ha’ mood! I don’t know! It’s giving that, it’s giving that.”
The women-dominated event was headlined by Grammy winner Cardi B, making it a memorable occasion for all attendees.
