Acknowledging the pervasive influence of societal expectations on hair styling choices, Dove’s Global Vice President of Hair, Bérengère Loubatier, emphasized the brand’s commitment to promoting a positive relationship between women and their hair. “Through #MyHairAMiModo, we aim to uplift Latina community voices and celebrate the beauty of all hair types, textures, and styles so that Latina women feel empowered to embrace wearing their hair, their way,” Loubatier stated.
The campaign is set to feature an engaging music video showcasing the collaboration between Dove, Bomba Estéreo, and Sarai Gonzalez, the young star from the renowned “Soy Yo” music video. The initiative encourages Latina women to share their hair stories on TikTok using the hashtag #MyHairAMiModo and tagging @Dove. Additionally, the campaign urges allies to actively participate by engaging with the content and spreading the message within their networks.
Lead singer of Bomba Estéreo, Li Saumet, underscored the significance of the campaign’s message, highlighting the importance of self-expression and self-acceptance. “The connection was very organic for me because I often experiment with my hair to express myself and my personal style,” Saumet emphasized, applauding Dove’s efforts to elevate the discourse on hair-related pressures faced by Latina women.
