Doctor Who sensation Jodie Whittaker has captivated fans with a striking transformation, all in the name of her latest Netflix project, Toxic Town.

In these exclusive sneak peeks, Whittaker astounds with a bold departure from her usual appearance, revealing a short-cropped blonde hairstyle. Clad in character, she dons a fiery red Adidas jacket, complemented by jeans, trainers, and shimmering gold accessories.

One intriguing snapshot captures the actress in the midst of filming a scene, alongside Aimee Lou Wood of Sex Education fame. Both actresses, perched on a park bench, portray characters relishing cans of beer, promising an intriguing twist in the series.

Toxic Town delves into the harrowing narrative of the Corby poisonings, a catastrophic environmental crisis that rocked the world in 2009.

Corby, a picturesque town nestled in Northamptonshire, once thrived as a hub for steelworks in the UK. However, the industry’s decline during the 1980s led to the reckless dumping of vast quantities of toxic waste in the region.

Desperate to mitigate the ecological disaster, the local council embarked on an ill-fated mission to eradicate the waste, inadvertently spreading contamination to inhabited areas and jeopardizing the well-being of countless residents.

In the wake of this calamity, a legal battle ensued, with Corby Borough Council facing allegations that their disposal of hazardous materials had resulted in birth defects. Shockingly, the evidence revealed a disturbingly high incidence of upper-limb deformities among Corby’s newborns.

The engrossing series, spanning four riveting episodes, unfurls the gripping courtroom showdown between the afflicted children’s parents and the council.

The ensemble cast of Toxic Town boasts an impressive lineup, featuring Brendan Coyle of Downton Abbey, Robert Carlyle from The Full Monty, and Rory Kinnear, renowned for Our Flag Means Death. Guiding the narrative’s creative vision is Jack Thorne, the mastermind behind Enola Holmes and His Dark Materials, who has expertly crafted the script. Minkie Spiro, celebrated for her work on Downton Abbey, assumes the directorial reins.

Jack Thorne passionately conveyed his perspective on this momentous series, remarking in an official statement, “The Corby Toxic Waste Case is an indelible chapter in history, a stark testament to our capacity to turn a blind eye to the safety of our people. Equally, it showcases the extraordinary resilience of individuals who rise to champion what is right. Toxic Town narrates the saga of these remarkable, tenacious women and their unwavering battle for their children’s future.”
